herbal mouth rinse for sore throats and other bad mouth things

lovely briana
All natural licorice root, echinacea, and chamomile mouth rinse for mouth and throat infections, canker sores, and any other mouth irritations or inflammations. It really works! Tried and true.

This is my friend, Briana. She is an amazing mother (honestly), a great herbalist, and a beautiful person. She came up with this herbal blend to help my son. He had strep throat AND a terrible gum inflammation with lots of little canker sores all over the inside of his mouth. It was horrific. He couldn't eat any solid foods. Poor little man had to live on ice cream for a whole week!

We started using this rinse after he'd been sick for about 3 days. His sores disappeared after 2 days of using the rinse, and his infection and pain were gone within 3 days.

I felt myself getting what he had, including a couple of canker sores in my mouth. I started rinsing with this stuff and everything went away within a day or two. The cankers never developed and I remained perfectly healthy.

This stuff rules and I'm not kidding.
briana's ridiculously cute child.

    How to use it

    • Drink it as a tea (dilute with water to taste)

    Why it works

    Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)

Licorice has been found to be effective in treating stomach ulcers and canker sores. It appears to function as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory. The University of Maryland Medical Center has a GREAT, comprehensive page on licorice, with links to many studies.

    Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)

Echinacea is one of the best known herbs for treating colds, infections, and viruses. It's also anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and (possibly) anti-viral, which makes it perfect for this particular application of treating mouth sores and a mouth/throat infection.

Several laboratory and animal studies suggest that echinacea contains active substances that boost immune function, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and have hormonal, antiviral, and antioxidant effects. For this reason, professional herbalists may recommend echinacea to treat urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast (candida) infections, ear infections (also known as otitis media), athlete's foot, sinusitis, hay fever (also called allergic rhinitis), as well as slow-healing wounds. Preliminary studies in the lab suggest echinacea may help inhibit colon tumors when combined with cichoric acid. One study even suggests that echinacea extract exerted an antiviral action on the development of recurrent cold sores triggered by the herpes simplex virus (HSVI) when taken prior to infection.

    Chamomile (Matricaria recutita)

This is one of the most popular herbs ever! Traditionally, chamomile has been used to soothe. It's anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-fungal. Check out the University of Maryland Medical Center's page on chamomile.

If you're allergic to ragweeds, you may be allergic to chamomile. so be careful!
