I've always been wary of dry shampoos. Basically it's just powder sprinkled on your head to absorb the oils. It just seemed weird to me. Plus the one time I tried it I was combing/washing powder out of my head for days afterward. I think I used Jean Nate bath powder. It was the 70s.

Luckily, my hair could benefit from any kind of shampoo today, so I was ready to experiment!
Okay, so here's a before:
So luscious!
Sweet chocolatey goodness.
Here's what that looked like:
Powdery!
I let it sit for about 15 minutes and then tried to comb it out. Wow. Flyaway hair! And the comb didn't seem to be getting the powder out. I switched to a boar bristle flat brush and that worked. At first my hair was SOOOO flyaway, I thought I'd end up having to use a drop of hemp oil on it. But as I worked my hands through it, it started to look really good! The cocoa left a little film on the hair, but it's not bad at all. The color is kind of cool, a little lighter brown, which I'm sure will rinse right out. The texture is interesting. It's definitely got some volume, which I love, and it really does look clean and bouncy. I'm giving it a 9 or maybe even a 10!!!
I'm having trouble finding some actual studies about cocoa powder and hair, but it contains vitamins and minerals and a low fat content that nevertheless provides a moisture barrier, which is good. I'm thinking it coats each shaft, and that's what's making it look so fluffy.
Flyaway hair!!!
Starting to calm down!
NOT BAD!!! I like it!
Maybe I should include cocoa in my hair mask for brunettes!
