Photo Shoot With Acacia: Back to School Edition!

BOOKS!

We've got one of the most BEAUTIFUL campuses in the world right here in our own neighborhood! The University of New Mexico is right down the street from my house.

It only seemed right to do a back-to-school photo shoot with the lovely and wicked smart Acacia for our new fall stuff.

My idea for this shoot was to create a "street-style" kind of look, but with a definite editorial quality. So some combination of spontaneous and deliberate... I really had no idea (although I looked at MILLIONS of pinterest pictures!) how to make that happen.

Believe it or not, the universe helped me out with that one: my freakin camera mysteriously decided to stop working, so I had to use my iphone (Note: it's hard to look all cool and fashion-biz-like taking pics of your glamorous model with your phone). BUT we trundled through, and it turned out to be a good thing. A crucial element of the street-style idea is that the photos should look like they were taken on the street (yes, I know, crazy) with a PHONE! So yes! The rest of it fell into place because of the beautiful background and the insightful modeling of my friend.

It was a gorgeous evening... the clouds gave us some great cover for extended periods of time, giving us the perfect light. I'm not feeling 100 percent confident about the clarity of some of the photos. Some of them are a bit blurry/hazy. They work for me as art, but not necessarily as product photos. Same with the backlit ones. I LOVE the photos, but they don't work quite as well for product pics.

The pics below are not retouched, except for some brightening and white color correction. They will be edited for my shop later...

Any suggestions are welcome!
