Indoor Photo Shoot With Acacia!

Cool shot!
In an effort to streamline the look of the photos for my new items, I decided to photograph Acacia in my living room/studio against the white wall I use as a backdrop for my mannequin photos.

Always the lights! It's been very strange to me how I could set up the lights exactly the same way every time and, every time, the result was different. I think I'm finally starting to understand how the light works and how it manifests in the two-dimensional image. It's kind of frustrating, but interesting anyway.......

So this time, we had cloud-covered sunlight coming in through a large picture window on the model's left side and through an open door behind the model to the left. Two 250-watt lights are shining on the back wall and one 250 is shining on the model from her front/right, through an umbrella.

This looked great through the lens. The wall was white, Acacia was lit, and I was happy!

Unfortunately, the images look sort of washed out. When I correct the color, Acacia looks too pink/red.

Now I know that the back lighting was too bright. I also think the model should be lit from the direct front. Next time I'm going to try lighting her from behind the camera and using only one light for the back wall. I've ordered a soft box and some reflectors with a stand. I hope those help!

Here are some of the shots!

Just because of the hair...

Retouched, including color correction and mid-tone lightening. Acacia looks blurry. I think that's because the backlighting was too bright! See what I mean?

Love this shot!

Again the washed-out effect... I would love a very clear, sharp image!
