All of this mirrorwork, embroidery, and beading were done by hand.
The fabric is a bright pink silk georgette, which is sheer like chiffon, but a little thicker and with a softer drape.
Bandhani is a tie-dying style practiced by rural village people in Gujarat, northwestern India.
The word comes from bandha, bandhana, the Sanskrit word for tying; from this, the Gujarati, bandhavun, to tie, is derived.
Teeny tiny little knots are tied in the fabric. The fabric is dipped into a vat of dye and allowed to dry. The knots are then removed, revealing intricate patterns on the finished textile.
