Photo Shoot with Britt at the State Fair

This was definitely one of the greatest shoots I've had. I can say it's the first time I was able to manifest what was in my head out onto the finished pieces.

Photo Shoot with Kailani

My favorite shot of the day.
This weekend I had the privilege of working with one of the most amazing ladies I've ever met. In addition to being a glamorous supermodel, Kailani is an artist, community leader, and activist. She works with an organization called Warehouse 508, located in downtown Albuquerque.

Photo Shoot With Lacey

fashion shoot
So beautiful it's almost ridiculous.
Another great fashion photo shoot with Lacey Walker this weekend!

She showed up ready to work, looking beautiful. She and her awesome sister even babysat the kids for a few minutes (brave ladies) so I could run down to the bank and get her fee (which I forgot to get in advance because i'm a freakin scatterbrain).

This time I used two softboxes with 250s on the background, one 500 with a yellow umbrella facing down from behind me onto the model, light from the window on Lacey's left side, and a gold reflector shining window light back onto Lacey's right side and face. I'm happier with this set than the last set, but the background is still too dark (editing has proving relatively fruitless in this regard) and I would like a better light on Lacey.

Still evolving!

Photo Shoot with Acacia: The Bosque

Another glorious day with Acacia. This time we went down to the Bosque. A bosque is the green strip of land on both sides of a river. So, really we've been going to the bosque all along, but this time we went to THE Bosque near the Rio Grande Nature Center at the end of Candelaria in ABQ. It's got a museum and visitor's center, maintained trails, and picnic benches. They also have a rescue center (Wildlife Rescue, Inc. of New Mexico) for any wildlife in distress. Last year, my son and I brought in a tiny nest of hummingbird babies that had been orphaned during a really bad storm. The lady told us that this is a very common occurrence during the wet season. They got accommodations for millions of hummingbird babies down there! They also have a great page with info on what to do when you find a hurt animal here.

Albuquerque Style: Folk Fest and Gypsy Fest

It was a BIG weekend here in Albuquerque! There was a lot to choose from, fun-wise. Saturday, it was folk fest at the balloon park. Awesome music, food, stuff, kids, styly peeps!

Sunday it was Gypsy Fest up in Madrid. Absolutely worth the trip, even if just to ogle the colorful fashions.

FOLK FEST!

ABQ Style: Mother's Day at the Railyards!

This kid. Simple outfit. Striking look.
Albuquerque has a really awesome new happening! This is one of the most exciting things to happen in this town since I moved here 7 years ago.

I'll be using a lot of exclamation marks in this post.

The Rail Yards Market is "a celebration of Albuquerque arts, food, culture and music."
